The Ask: By the time Buttery was approached by the Town of Crested Butte and Gunnison County, Covid-19 had ravaged through the region. This area was one of the early and most prolific hotspots in the country. Buttery was asked to develop a multimedia communications campaign that could help reinforce public health measures and mitigation protocol—and walk the political tightrope without creating further divisiveness around the pandemic.
“The COVID-19 pandemic brought a variety of communication challenges to local communities. Early on, Gunnison County recognized the need for a unifying public health message that connected to our local values and ways of life. Buttery executed beautifully on that challenge through the creation of the COVID Critters campaign. With research and a thorough sense of place, the COVID Critters offered pertinent public health messages relayed through memorable depictions of wildlife showcasing our shared values.”
